Who this workshop is for: Anyone curious about burlesque performance, and any current beginner performers seeking guidance and to develop their skills. No performance experience required. Must be at least 18 years of age to participate. This class is a welcoming & inclusive environment – ALL races, body types, abilities, sexualities, family backgrounds, and gender identities.

Burlesque is a live performance artform with a rich history rooted in vaudeville that is still performed today. Artists often incorporate elements of comedy, costumes, dance, drama, theatre, and sometimes striptease to convey a story or message through creative expression and entertainment.

Over this workshop series, weekly sessions often combine both movement and lecture-based lessons and recommend being prepared to ensure you get the most from the course.
Wear clothing that you feel confident and comfortable in moving. Leggings, shorts, socks, or dance shoes – whatever supports your movement and body best. Dancewear and heels are always optional. (If you are new to dancing in heels or would like to level up your heel performance skills, check out Bebe’s “Heels Foundations” class!)Other recommended items & materials:
Water to stay hydrated!
A notebook & writing utensil, phone, or other preferred note taking method
Any other items that support your body’s needs, such as a towel, knee pads, etc.

Yes! The workshop series is hosted by Dream Dance Studio, located on Williamson Rd in Roanoke, Virginia. The studio has an accessible parking lot available for all registered students.
